Emily Smith

Emily is another vampire in the clan. She has always observed Connor O'Brien closely because he saved her from being killed by humans when she was still mortal. He turned her into a vampire, and she remains devoted to him.

Nonetheless, one day when Connor O'Brien and Khlyen Einarsso came for a long visit, they brought a young woman along, and Khlyen tasked Connor with being her guardian. Emily was not pleased with this arrangement, but she had to accept it.

One day, Khlyen Einarsson directed Connor O'Brien to transform the woman. This upset her somewhat, as she was displeased with Khlyen for instructing Connor to change her. After the transformation, the woman had difficulty keeping any human blood down. Khlyen then had Emily go to the woman to let her drink from her, but she couldn't do that either.

Later, the late Khlyen instructed Connor to approach the woman and see if she could drink his blood and keep it down. When Emily observed that the woman could indeed keep down Connor's blood, she became even more upset because she realized what was going to happen—that the woman would be more connected to Connor than she could be.

She watched as the woman and Connor practiced fighting, feeling displeased when Emily became acquainted with this woman. It was then that she learned the woman's name was Amaranthine Lightning and discovered that she was to join them in battling werewolves. Emily then told Amaranthine during the fight with the wolf that if she didn't want to be part of their clan, she should run away.
